A model of front, to start with filling the back.

This is as far as i have got with the model. I need to start putting housing into the back.

sticking floorplates to cones...

These cones are different from the previous ones, they are slightly larger than previous designs. The new size allows for two floorplates per cone. This makes the farming area a double story space, and gives a good celing-height in the housing. This new model also takes into account floor thickness. The best feature is that the housing floorplates (brown) lead directly into the farm cones (blue) without a change in height. How to enclose the housing area is the next step.

first cone with floor thickness

Made using Pepakura. This model is ok but it is warped and a bit inaccurate, it is also difficult to carve shapes into this type of paper model so i am going to make the next model from blue foam.

computer model for foam model

I am building a computer model, trying to simplify the shapes of the foam pieces to make model building quick. There are going to be five basic pieces making up the main cone. The image shows the state of the cone joints at the moment, they are still too complicated but i have a way to make them simpler but its bed time... zzz simplification.jpg

Rhino model for blue foam model

basically finished, but...

The red one becomes thicker so it needs to be corrected. Another hour tomoro will sort it but basically sorted. sorrry actuallt this piece is fine and i am starting to make the model out of foam.

Paper wins hands down... or does it?

The accuracy of the paper model is of a notably higher standard than the forseeable possibilities of carving the form from blue foam. Blue foam would in theory be better to make the model in because it is more carveable and so once the main form has been created can then carve into it and added to with new ideas. But the paper is faster and more accurate, think that the paper model making strategy will be to model first in rhino then in paper in a continuous rosiprical process. The paper models will help to understand how to build the computer models and may be able to work directly on the paper model anyway so that is my strategy for now.

Linking between cones with max 5degree slope

linking%20cones.jpg

This is where i am now with the cones, i would like to spend some more time developing the slope between the cones in order to make the walk between cones more direct or more at the front so you dont have to walk into the back to get to the next cone. But there is not time for this now so because need to spend some time on the hooke park model, working out how it is built.
